Supreme Kelpie Stud’s name came from the word “Supreme” meaning the latest and greatest.
I want to bred a working kelpie that has the best available genetics and traits for the stockman, livestock carrier, yard and shed worker.
My introduction to well bred kelpies came from a meeting with Kevin and Kay Howell at their Karana Stud back in 2002. That day I bought my first Karana Kelpie – Karana Sao.
I purchased a further 6 Karana Kelpies all selected by Kevin and Kay. Kevin Howell is today regarded as the bench mark in handling kelpies and I owe him many thanks for my growing interest in this wonderful breed of dog.
The Supreme Kelpie Stud took a giant leap forward with the purchase of Turners Jo Jo in September 2010. Rod Turner bred Jo Jo from his Milburn Sue. He joined Sue to Backenbark Al, owned and trialled by Alan Rutter – Tumutvalley Kelpie Stud. Al was seen, even back then, as an outstanding dog. Al went on to win many more trials, but sadly passed away in 2011 doing what he did best, stockwork.
Rod Turner has a knack of producing fantastic working farm dogs and attends trials when time allows him to get away from his 1600 Ha Lake Cargellico farm.
Milburn Sue is the daughter of Milburn Basil, a dog that needs no introductions. Only Boanong Buster and Karana Abba today could place themselves in the light on Milburn Basil.
